A Yes and no. It’s a good idea to display your knowledge of such processes; so do tell them that you went through it all, and how much it taught you. But remember that processes depend on the input they receive. It was you who decided on the range of possibilities and on the most likely outcome. Call the process a good guideline to follow, but take full credit for taking the plunge.

Here’s an idea for you…

If you haven’t been the leader of a project that took a serious risk, you could perhaps use experience from a risky project where you had even a fairly minor part. Talk to the project manager and see if you can develop the scenario from their point of view. Don’t overplay your role; just explain what you learnt from being involved.
